Period Building in Pinner
This property, which had stood empty for some time and was being refurbished by local builders, needed to have new flooring fitted throughout. We specified the required vinyl for the utility areas, the use of a wood plank vinyl in the reception area (as pictured) and the installation of Adams Broadloom carpeting through the general office areas and common parts. We developed a brighter, safer and quieter environment for the archive in the roof with the installation of Heckmondwike Iron Duke flooring.
Why not talk to us about your office and commercial flooring requirements, whether it is refitting warehousing, offices or retail, we would be delighted to assist you.

Catholic Insurance Services, Thame
Our initial introduction to this client was the possibility of trying to match up some tiles to an existing floor finish. This proved not to be possible and we were subsequently instructed to fit new carpet tiles throughout the area using DESSO salt and pepper. Office furnishings supplied by Verco and we fitted roller blinds to the windows, manifestations to some of the existing glazed screens and updated the lighting to energy efficient LED lamps throughout.

Accord Banking Union, Charvil
“Some very fine work has gone on in this building young man”, so said the general secretary of the Accord Banking Union when I met him for the first time having redecorated, installed new lighting and new furniture.
We worked very closely with the assistant general secretary and her team on agreeing the ambiance required.
We fitted Tarkett ID-170 vinyl wood plank throughout this space with the exception of the entrance lobby where we used a stone effect. In the ceiling we installed lighting with four LED panels displaying clouds on a blue sky.
A bespoke meeting table was manufactured for the ground floor meeting room, the staircase to the first floor landing and private office was fitted with DESSO ridge carpet tiles in colours of blue and grey to form a border to the spaces. We have subsequently been instructed to refurbish the toilet areas and converting one of the toilets into a shower room with a full upgrade to the other areas including ceramic tiling, new flooring and all new sanitaryware.

education projects

the dining hall, st joseph’s college, reading
When the headmaster wished to refurbish the 70-year-old dining room and remove the lino-topped folding tables with benches, he approached Voke Flooring & Interiors Ltd to help him resolve the issues of lack of natural daylight and the noise of 300 students eating and talking. As a winner of Independent School of the Year 2015, St Joseph’s College had high standards to maintain.
Initially we removed the high level windows and installed 3 sets of patio doors, which opened onto a terrace area overlooking lawns and grounds of the college. The dated décor was replaced with a contemporary orange colour scheme, modern lighting and, most importantly, fabric panels suspended from the ceiling to absorb the noise. The refurbishment was finished with the installation of new tables and chairs, with the job coming in under budget and on time.
The children’s wc
The children’s toilets in this 1970s built primary school were difficult to clean and impractical.
We removed the old brick dividing walls and urinals, replacing them with 5 bright new cubicles with close coupled units, timber style flooring and contemporary lighting.
The toilets are now used more respectfully, are easier to clean and provide a bright, safe environment for the children’s use.

nursery classroom
We had already refurbished the Head Teacher’s office, staff room and reception area so we were asked to complete the refurbishment of the classroom in Cookham Nursery too.
Having removed dated floor units and cumbersome partitions, we opened up a large bright space. A white ceiling and pale grey walls were complemented with a darker grey Heckmondwike patterned carpet floor tile and vinyl to the wet play areas. New low level units were fitted in the kitchen area for children’s play and lunchtime resulting in a bright and colourful environment.
sixth form common room
Creating a light and bright space for sixth formers to relax was the key for this refurbishment.
The headmaster of St Joseph’s College wanted a sociable space that attracted the students to spend time there, reflect the school colour scheme and also reflect its location in the heart of Reading.
The room was naturally split into different pods, allowing the application of different colours in each area, allowing each space to deliver a unique feel.
Working with a local photographer, Tina Panting, and the amazing graphic designer and website builder Tim Marotto, (who built this site) we created a striking collage for the main wall of the common room, working hand-in-hand with the colours adopted elsewhere in the room.

the school library
When refurbishing a school classroom, we consider a number of factors to influence our advice and installation of flooring and interiors, such as the number of pupils using the facility, the school colours, in terms of uniform and branding, as well as the sound insulating properties, practicality and durability of flooring and other materials used.
Of course we want it to look good too, so we assess the aesthetic appeal of all materials as a whole when planning a project.
This library at Hilltop First School has been transformed, now offering the children a bright, comfortable and appealing space to read and learn.
It’s no wonder Ofsted have graded this school as Outstanding.

the staff room and headmaster’s office, maidenhead
For many years we have looked after the flooring and decorating requirements for Maidenhead Nursery and over time have refitted children’s WCs, installed slip resistant flooring, installed windows and repaired play areas.
This time it was the turn of the staff and the head teacher; both areas were to be refurbished. The existing carpeting fitted by ourselves a few years was still in such good order it was agreed to leave it in place; meanwhile the areas were redecorated, new treatment window treatments installed and Verco furniture was installed in both areas.
As recommended dealers for Verco we were delighted to be able to showcase desking, soft seating and meeting room furniture.

residential projects

home office
Using Tangent furniture, we refurbished this home office to include a new desk and storage.
Disabled Bathroom
It was recently our pleasure to install a disabled bathroom for a client.
With a short timeframe due to the owner returning from hospital we stripped out the existing bathroom and the freestanding shower unit.
We then strengthened the floor to accommodate a wet room shower tray, adjusted the drainage and serviced and reused the existing shower. The original wet radiator was removed and a sleek new electric radiator was installed adjacent to the shower to keep towels warm and be safer in operation.
The installation of a boutique wash basin and WC unit allows easy access to the shower by wheelchair. The floor was finished with Tarkett Wet Foot slip resistant vinyl and a soft cream flat gloss tile was applied to the walls with white paint work.

kitchen
We were instructed by a local church to refurbish the kitchen in a property they owned which was let to tenants, the end result has proved to be a triumph in terms of cost for the church and usability for the tenant.
All designed and installed by us using Howdens kitchen units and Tarkett wood plank flooring.

hospitality projects
Bar refurbishment, westminster
In the heart of Westminster, Savage Club has been a leading gentlemen’s club since 1857 – over 160 years of providing a class-leading social space is a staggering accomplishment.
We are a long-standing supplier to Savage Club, having refurbished the bar area twice over three decades. Quality materials are paramount, with the previous flooring having lasted twenty six years before being replaced by us in 2016.
We used quality products from Desso, Heckmondwike, Joseph Hamilton and Brinton’s Carpets (a company that holds a Royal Warrant, sealing their position as a provider of exquisite products fit for royalty), as well as restoring pictures and furniture of historical importance to the club.

French Horn Banquet seating
As part of the refurbishment of the long room and the round room at the French Horn in Sonning we were asked to re-upholster some banquet seating where we have used a FR Harlequin fabric to give a modern luxury feel.

French Horn Private Dining Room
Having refurbished the round room and long room restaurants at the French Horn hotel, these had proven so successful we were then asked to carry out the refurbishment of the private dining room.
Colour and design was all put together by us, the space was redecorated using Zoffany paints to the wall, Westex Carpeting was fitted throughout on the Durafit method whereby the carpet is bonded to the underlay which prevents any movement in the carpet from moving furniture around. William Morris velvet fabric was used for the curtains at both ends of the room and a Zoffany upholstery fabric was used for the restoration of the two dozen dining chairs.
Neat new uplighters replaced existing and for the first time a small chandelier was installed in the room in the bay. The scheme was finally set off with a number of antique silver mirrors being fitted to the walls.
Mr. Emmanuelle was delighted with the finished room and it has been complimented on and used by a number of clients since completion.

healthcare projects

Royal Berkshire Hospital – children’s clinic
The Royal Berkshire Hospital children’s clinic had some rather dated carpeting fitted to the consulting rooms and the staff were anxious that these spaces should have the carpet removed and replaced with vinyl for easier cleaning and infection prevention, as well as brightening up the spaces.
Using Tarkett vinyl tiles in a variety of colours, a checker board scheme with a border was installed in these rooms.
Melrose House
A leading centre for Diabetic research and treatment based in Reading was fitted out initially by Voke Interiors over 20 years ago when we installed carpets, curtains, vinyl, ceramic tiles, as well as furniture and lighting. A number of areas which had previously been carpeted now needed to be treated with new vinyl floors.
Using Tarkett products we fitted vinyl to common areas, consulting rooms and a waiting area using different products to create a different ambience in the various rooms. The result, all the staff felt better.
If you have a relative in hospital who is not feeling at all well and is very sick it is possible that you may want to seek help and guidance from above. On that basis we upgraded the lighting in the chapel and in association with our friends at Heckmondwike we donated new flooring in the aisles and staircase approach. Now we pray that they get better.
